Having lived in and around Gympie for nearly thirty years I have a track record of caring for the community. I am a member of the Local Ambulance Committee here in Gympie. I am and have been an active member of the Gympie State Emergency Service since December 1989. The last two years as Cooloola Shire Local Controller of the S.E.S. I am also an active member of St John Ambulance Gympie Division where I joined in April 1995. Gee time flies when you are having fun.
That brings me to another subject close to my heart, having travelled a bit I am sure we live in the best part of the world we should be aware of that and enjoy our surroundings. I have been a founding member of several shooting clubs in the Gympie area over my thirty years in this area.
If chosen by you, I will work to represent your views in council. I do not believe Councillors should be elected dictators. I will work with anyone elected to Council who will represent the views of the residents fairly. Councillors should be accessible by the community and represent the community. I believe that as much as possible all council meetings and logic should be open to the community for comment and understanding.
I do think that council should concentrate on the basics of roads, garbage, town planning and protecting our environments. Leaving to private enterprise the areas that they are good at with positive assistance from council. Council should be encouraging and assisting industry and development not putting hurdles in their way. Other councils have a great record helping civic minded progress and I believe we can as well.
Residents need to be treated fairly and with respect regardless of what area they come from within the shire. No resident should suffer any loss due to the actions of Council as Council is an instrument for their benefit not their loss.
Can I do the job for you?
Being an instructor for S.E.S. and St John Ambulance Australia has trained me to be organised and clear in my intent. My experience as a manager in the clothing industry and retail has educated me to the needs of people from many aspects. I believe my life skills have prepared me to do the job for you.
